EVENT: Organic Walking Food Tour

Tour Toronto’s iconic Roncesvalles neighbourhood on foot where you’ll visit, learn about and sample product from five organic food retailers!

In celebration of Organic Week 2019, OCO will be guiding an Organic Walking Food Tour of the iconic Roncesvalles neighbourhood in Toronto on Saturday, September 7th.

Date: Saturday, September 7, 2019
Time: 11 am – 1 pm
Where: Meet at the Peace Garden (intersection of Roncesvalles and Dundas). The total walking distance covered in the tour is about 1.5km and should take approximately two hours.

The tour will meet at the Peace Garden (at the intersection of Roncesvalles and Dundas) and head south from there, stopping at five unique locations:

1. The Herbal Dispensary

Dispensary staff will educate guests on how their in-house naturopaths and herbalists make use of organic, local and sustainably sourced herbs, oils and teas. Guests will get to sample teas and tinctures along with various salves available for testing in the shop.

2. Reunion Coffee Roasters

Reunion Coffee Roaster’s coffee specialist will discuss the company’s organic handler certification along with the other sustainable approaches it takes in creating quality, locally roasted coffee. Guests will get to savour one of Reunion’s freshly roasted certified organic coffees.

3. The Mercantile

The Mercantile owner will share with guests her system for sourcing local, organic, natural and unique specialty food items that often have their own compelling back story. Guests will get the chance to sample some of her products while exploring the wonderfully eclectic items the Mercantile has to offer.

4. The Village Juicery

Village Juicery staff will inform guests of how they manage to keep an entirely organic production process, from sourcing to bottling, with their delicious and healthfully curated cold-pressed juices. Guests will have the opportunity to taste the fresh, distinct flavour profiles that make up their signature juices.

5. Rowe Farms

Rowe Farms staff will guide guests through their simple approach to eating which involves sourcing sustainably raised, locally grown, minimally processed organic foods. Guests will gain insights into the “whole picture” of eating sustainably while getting the chance to taste some of the products Rowe Farms endorses by retailing in their shop.

Ticket Costs:

$10 + HST for OCO members

$20 +HST for the general public
